Overview
The RSP studio is a hybrid recording studio located on the Big Island of Hawaiʻi. We use Logic Pro X as our main DAW and have the ability to record up to 14 inputs at once. The center piece of our mixing set up is a digital console by SSL. We use dual reference monitors by Focal and Auratone. The studio consists of both an engineering room and a separate recording room.
AD/DA
The RSP studio uses a mastering grade AD+ converter by Dangerous Music integrated with an Apollo X8P and Apollo X8 by Universal Audio. At mix down, we have the ability to sum 16 analog output channels through a Rupert Neve Designs Orbit summing box.
Analog mix bus
The RSP studio uses a pair of Rupert Neve Designs Shelford Channels for recording and mix bus duties. The mix bus also includes the new SSL Ultraviolet EQ, the legendary SSL G Bus compressor and a pair of Rupert Neve Designs 542 tape emulators. For mastering, we add a Dangerous Music BAX EQ and Rupert Neve Designs Master Bus Processor which feeds back into our mastering grade AD+ converter.
Microphones
The RSP studio uses a Flea 47 Next and a Neumann U87ai. We also have mics by Lauten Audio, Warm Audio, Shure, Audix, and Lewitt.
